Privacy policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Troop collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. It covers people who use Troop, and people whose business contact details appear in Troop. It is written to meet the Information Technology Act, 2000, its Reasonable Security Practices Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Data about Troop customers
- Account: your name, email, a scrambled (hashed) form of your password, or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google.
- Your business: your website, what you sell, the markets and brief you set, your email sequence, the sender names you choose and the address replies are copied to.
- Activity: leads you find, messages drafted and sent, replies, credit purchases and usage.
- Security: sign-in sessions with the browser they came from, and failed sign-in attempts (by email and network address) to stop password guessing.
- Payments: handled by Razorpay. We receive a payment reference and status, never your full card number.
We use this to run your account, find and contact businesses for you, bill you, keep Troop secure, answer support requests and meet legal obligations. We do not sell it and do not use it for advertising.
2. Data about business contacts
To help customers reach businesses, Troop holds business information such as company name, website, location, public reviews, team size and hiring activity, and for some businesses the name, role, work email or business phone number of a decision-maker.
- It comes from public sources such as company websites and business listings, and from licensed B2B data providers.
- It is used only for business-to-business outreach. Contact details are hidden in Troop and released to a customer only for an outreach they pay for; they are not included in exports.
- Every email gives a simple way to say no. Opt-outs are recorded and respected across Troop.
- If your details are in Troop and you want them corrected or removed, or you do not want to be contacted, email support@troopp.in or +91 9896305896. We act within 7 days and keep a minimal record so you are not added again.
3. Who we share data with
We share data only with providers who help run Troop, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing their service to us:
- Explee — business discovery, contact lookup and email delivery.
- Anthropic — AI that reads your website, suggests markets and writes drafts. Data sent through its API is not used to train its models.
- Razorpay — payments.
- Google — sign-in, only if you choose it.
- Hosting and database providers — to store and serve Troop.
Some providers process data outside India. We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect Troop and its users from fraud or abuse.
5. How long we keep data
- Account and project data: while your account is open. Deleting your account from Settings removes it permanently.
- Payment and invoice records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally 8 years).
- Opt-out records: kept indefinitely so people who said no are never contacted again.
- Sign-in sessions expire automatically; failed sign-in records are short-lived.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, sessions are signed and can be revoked, and access to customer data is limited to what running Troop needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or name someone to act for you. Most account data can be changed or deleted directly in Settings. For anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Troop is for businesses and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
9. Grievance Officer
Our Grievance Officer is Sukhmani. Complaints about how we handle personal data can be sent to support@troopp.in or +91 9896305896. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above; for significant changes we will also email account holders. See also our terms.
